Betty says about her project Speak Out Against Child Abuse & Molestation: "My project is targeting primary and secondary school students in selected schools within Nigeria. Many students will be educated on how to stop child abuse and molestation, on how to speak out and get justice. Me and my team have also been visiting local communities, camps and orphanage home's to create awareness on violence. The problem we are focusing on now, is how to fight rape within my community. And how to get justice for the girls who have been a victim of rape. I have lots to do within my project, I want to have a platform where awareness will be created everyday and also create a program for the girls during every school holiday. And I need a laptop to enable myself to have my workshops and presentations on internet. My ultimate goal is to see a rape free nation and to increase access to, and improve justice outcomes, when sexual assault, domestic and family violence occurs."
What did KidsRights do to support you? "KidsRights has done a lot for me and I would like them to continue, they have always been supporting, encouraging, inspiring and motivating me to do more in my project. And KidsRights believes that I will be the change my community is searching for! I love KidsRights and I want to thank them. I love being a changemaker!"
Do you have some inspiring and encouraging words for other potential changemakers? "A true leader has the confidence to stand alone, the courage to make tough decisions and the compassion to listen to the needs of others. He/she does not set out to be a leader. but becomes one by the equality of his/her actions and the integrity of his/her intent. The world is changed by your example, not by your opinion. True leaders don't create followers, they create more leaders."
