Meet our Bangalore, India Chapter

Written by State of Youth

My name is Pratap Sonkar. I am 21 years old and I am from India.

I've formed a youth committee named "Rise for Change".

It mainly aims at activating youth leadership and works towards the development of UN SDGs.

As a chapter, in our first activity we aimed to mainly address "SDG-3 Good Health and Well-being" which seeked to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages. During this Covid-19 pandemic, we had scheduled a webinar on Tobacco control, Child Nutrition and Maternal Health to inform and educate the public. Through this webinar, we tried to throw light upon the current issues and encourage the empowered youth to spread knowledge to the people who lack resources to ensure that no one is left behind due to the lack of awareness or access to healthcare. All the webinar participants found the session informative and enlightening.

Organising this webinar has helped us understand the importance of right information and has scaled up our interest to focus on such projects in the future to a great extent. Our future projects also involves working with underprivileged kids to provide them with quality education services.

With no end to the social issues in the world Rise for Change committee also aims at building a network of social workers and youth activists for working together on a common goal.

Thank you
